Sherman's Expert Review

In just a couple of years, the Skt (pronounced “Sankt”) Petri has established itself as the best and most stylish hotel in the city. It has its flaws, including low ceilings and some rooms with interior windows looking onto the lobby, thus troubled by noise from the bar. Instead, reserve one of the balcony rooms from which you can overlook the city’s spires; they’re fashionable but comfortable, with the added charm of excellent bathroom products. Just off the lobby, Bar Rouge is one of the best places for cocktails in the city, while the street level Bistro Blanc is just the place for a light lunch while reading the papers and watching Danes stroll by.

2008 SMART LUXURY WINNER
Minimalist Splendor

Little Copenhagen, gateway to Scandinavia, is having something of a cultural moment, from its resurgent design scene to the breathtaking eateries like Noma, Gødt, and others that have made it the epicenter of Nordic culinary innovation.

At ultra-chic Skt. Petri, the concierge can get you last-minute reservations, the minimal (yet comfy) guest rooms have floor-to-ceiling views of the medieval quarter, the Strøget shopping corridor is steps away, and the sleek hotel bar buzzes with a stylish crowd all weekend (light sleepers should book a fifth- or sixth-floor room). And while winters are cold, summers can be steamy, and Skt. Petri has that rarest of Nordic amenities, a/c. Best season for value: winter.

Great Value Alternative: The Avenue Hotel offers simple, affordable rooms (how Scandinavian!). From $203/night; avenuehotel.dk

"Loved the hotel"

We stayed at the hotel for 2 days, and really loved it. All over the staff is friendly and professional, every request was handled in a perfect way. The breakfast buffet could use a little fresh up, but the food in the café was great, and the... more

"Staff has a lot to catch up on service!"

We had pre-booked a baby-cot, and it was promised to be in our room at check in. It was not, and we had to ask twice before it arrived

"Gets all the little things wrong"

In trying to be at the cutting edge of design, the Skt Petri attempts to be something grand, but loses track of all the basics. The style of the hotel is definitely an achievement. The common areas (lobby, bar, restaurant) are quite chic indeed, and... more

"Centrally-located; great for shopping"

The staff were fabulous --happy to accommodate all our requests. We had asked for a reservation at a popular restaurant on a Saturday

"Mixed Emotions about Skt Petri"

This hotel promotes itself as a five star experience and a Design Hotel. Naturally, I had high expectations when booking a Large room at Skt Petri beginning of August. Unfortunately, only the entrance hall of this previous department store building... more

"The best hotel in Copenhagen"

If you like modern Scandinavian design, THIS is the place to stay. It is Copenhagen's only Design Hotel. Also in a great location, it

"Very good 4-star, but not overwhelming"

Solid 4-star, very clean, chic enough, great location, good service, comfy bed, great air conditioning - so very good, just not really anything to write home about (especially as it's not cheap!). If I had to return to Copenhagen and $$ was no... more

"Loved the 6th floor room with balcony / Disliked the 3rd floor room"

When a hotel is this expensive, I have high expectations. This visit was 2 nights in a room on the 3rd floor with no view and kitchen smells coming through the bathroom vent at night. No flat screen tv or Molton Brown toiletries like advertised. No... more
